Town of Sandy Creek - Municipal Offices & Justice Court

Aubertine and Currier completed Architectural, Civil/Site Engineering Design, Construction Documents, and Bidding Services for a 10,000 sf renovation of the existing 3-story Town Hall, and 300 sf addition. Aubertine and Currier will also provide Construction Management Services for the project. The $1,161,433 construction cost was partially funded by grants from NYSERDA and USDA Rural Development. Design fee $101,000.

The Town Hall includes a 2-story vestibule entrance with accessible lift and stairway. The 1st floor basement serves as an emergency shelter and includes a foyer, archives room, open space, kitchen, men’s and women’s restrooms with showers, storage rooms and mechanical room. The 2nd floor houses 9-offices, including the Clerk and Court offices, justice court, board meeting room, restrooms, storage, and foyer. The 3rd floor contains a 2-bedroom apartment, complete with kitchen, laundry, living room and storage. Major renovations included complete removal and reconstruction of the interior, insulation, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing throughout the building. Interior walls were reconfigured. All windows and exterior siding were replaced. An emergency generator and air conditioning were installed.

Civil/Site design included the creation of a driveway and 22 space parking lot, and reconstruction of a 6 parking spaces along the street. Water, electric and gas services were replaced and upgraded. The sanitary sewer which outlet directly to Sandy Creek was removed and a septic system was constructed. A storm sewer was designed to outfall to the creek and replace a collapsed outfall pipe. Foundation drains were constructed. Site lighting was designed for the new driveway and parking lot. Permitting of the septic system was completed with the NYS DEC. Permitting for the elimination of sanitary sewer flows and creation of a storm pipe outfall were completed with the NYSDEC and US Army Corps of Engineers.

Building design services included the development of schematic design plans and construction documents. Schematic design included a conceptual sketch of the site plan, floor plans and exterior elevations. Design development plans included such items as a New York State Building Codes evaluation and Americans with Disabilities review to ensure that they building is in compliance with both, reviews with the owner, and grant applications. Construction documents included the development of dimensioned floor plans, exterior elevations, wall sections and building sections, door and window schedule and details, foundation plan and details, electrical plan including lighting and power plans, schedules and detail and plumbing plans.   Bid Documents were prepared for Public Bidding and Contracting. Construction Management included inspection and grant administration services.
