Naumburg Mennonite Church

Aubertine and Currier provided space programming and construction documents for a 25,000 sf 2-story addition onto the existing church. The project included a new sanctuary with mezzanine with a total capacity of 1,124 people. The addition also has offices and classrooms for up to 250 Sunday School students. The structure is designed with super insulated exterior walls and roof system. Heat recovery units will be used to condition the fresh air intake and economizers are used to cool the building at night. Design included energy efficient lighting with occupancy sensors and minimum light output in areas that are typically brighter than necessary. The existing building is to be upgraded to current standards and a new commercial kitchen is designed to provide food service for up to 300 people. Aubertine and Currier received a variance to provide additional life safety measures in lieu of a fire sprinkler system. The site design included a parking lot expansion, storm water management, site lighting and a new raised bed septic system. Aubertine and currier provided permitting services and coordination with NYS building code officials, NYS Department of Health, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, as well as NYS Department of Transportation. The total project cost, with demolition of the old school, is projected to be $5.1 Million.

Naumburg Mennonite Church, Naumburg, NY (updated 2011) - The project consisted of a 15,200 SF two story Sanctuary addition to the existing Sanctuary, including Sunday School classrooms. The existing 8,800 SF Sanctuary is to be renovated and converted into the Fellowship Hall. The addition and renovations to the church provided sanctuary space for 1,100 parishioners, seating 275 within the classroom areas, and a 300 person fellowship hall. The project was designed and scheduled for construction in 4 phases of building and site infrastructure construction. Phases included: (1) Partial building demolition, storm drainage improvement and revised state highway access improvements, (2) Parking lot expansion and site earthwork, (3) Sanctuary addition and on-site wastewater treatment system construction, and (4) Fellowship hall and kitchen renovations.
