SUNY Canton

Aubertine and Currier Architects, Engineers & Land Surveyors, PLLC provided A/E  design services and Construction Administration for the new, state of the art, cyber café, dining area and rest rooms.  The area is designed for a better space for students to eat and study in.  The café offers Starbucks coffee and espresso beverages with the eatery has a build-your-own sandwich station, and many other snack, dinner or desert options.

A&C was first contracted to provide a feasibility study and conceptual drawings to better define the scope and budget for the renovation of the café and food serving area. The scope included the renovation of existing 1,511 sf food service area, existing bathroom facilities, and fixture requirements to meet ADA Compliance.  There were several meetings with the owner to better define the needs and efficiency of the space to be renovated.  NYS Building Code, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)  were conducted and a cost estimate was developed for the project. 

The project featured the overall renovation of the space, creating a new look, with new seating and soft lighting to help establish a fresh atmosphere for the college’s premier coffee shop.  Architectural features included acoustical clouds above high top tables, energy efficient lighting, HVAC systems. 

Southworth Library Circulation Desk Renovation (2018)

Aubertine and Currier provided SUNY Canton with a Feasibility Study and Conceptual Drawings to better define the scope and budget for interior renovations of the Circulation Desk, offices, work area, restrooms, breakroom, and conference room. The scope included reconfiguring the space for better function and efficiency.

Southworth Library IT Department Renovation (2018)

Aubertine and Currier provided SUNY Canton with a Feasibility Study and Conceptual Drawings to better define the scope and budget for interior renovations in the lower level of the Southworth Library. The project was accepted and the scope included four (4) additional cubicles, three (3) new offices with glass corridor partitions, and a conference room. The area was reconfigured for better efficiency as per the conceptual plans dated 3/23/2018. The total area to be renovated is approximately 2,500 s.f.

Cooper Service Complex Renovations (2018)

Aubertine and Currier provided a feasibility study to better define the scope and budget for the interior renovations at the Cooper Service Complex, which allowed for contract documents and written technical specifications to be drafted. The project was approved and will include new rooftop heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to offices, data rooms, and a break room. The project will include relocation of the breakroom and provide additional offices.  

French Hall Lobby Renovation (2018)

Aubertine and Currier is providing Professional Design Services for the renovations to the French Hall Lobby. The design will included replacing the existing ceilings and lighting in the Main Lobby, as well as replacing the existing stair railings. Scope shall also include the design and construction details for the reception desk.

Dana Hall Temporary Kitchen (2018)

Aubertine and Currier provided the Architectural/Engineering design services to create contract documents and written technical specifications to renovate an old locker room and shower facility into a temporary kitchen.

Dental Clinic (2018)

Aubertine and Currier provided Architectural Design Services which included a feasibility study to define the scope and budget for the adaptive re-use of the approximately 8,000 sf old Dollar Tree store to create a new dental clinic. The proposed layout shall include (20) Treatment Areas, (2) Rooms for Sterilization, Supply Room, Reception/Waiting Area, Resource Room, Janitorial/Mechanical Room, Radiology Wing, Locker Room for Students, (2) Faculty Offices and an Adjunct Office, ISA Office, Program Director Office, Conference Room, Prosthetic Lab, and a Stockroom.

CARC Women’s/Men’s Locker Rooms (2017)

Aubertine and Currier provided the Architectural/Engineering design services to create contract documents, written technical specifications and provide construction administration for the reconfiguration of the Women’s locker room and coaches restroom, as well as relocating the coaches office to the existing storage room. The project also included upgrades to the ventilation in the Women’s and Men’s locker rooms, as well as rubber flooring in the main corridor.

Payson Hall East & Payson Hall North - Access Improvements (2017)

Aubertine and Currier was contracted by SUNY Canton to complete the design and construction documents for site improvements to the pedestrian area along the east side and north end of Payson Hall, near the Miller Campus Center. Site improvements included construction of brick paver walkways and patio areas, granite tread overlays of existing concrete stairways, and replacement of stone veneer along the faces of existing concrete retaining walls.

Payson Hall Storage Building Roof (2017)

Aubertine and Currier provided the Architectural/Engineering design services and created contract documents, written technical specifications and provided construction administration for a green roof with existing stone wall & cap renovation.

Southworth Library Cyber Café (2017)

Aubertine and Currier provided the Architectural/Engineering design services and created contract documents, written technical specifications and provided construction administration for a new cyber café, dining area and rest rooms.

Southworth Library 2nd Floor Ceiling and Restroom Renovation (2017)

Aubertine and Currier provided the Architectural/Engineering design services and created contract documents, written technical specifications and provided construction administration for a ceiling renovation, lighting replacement and restroom renovation.

Wicks Hall Nursing Suite (2016)

Aubertine and Currier designed the state of the art nursing suite with a six (6) bed simulation suite, nurses station, control room, twelve (12) faculty offices, and conference room. Coordination was provided with the Mechanical & Electrical Engineers along with pre-fabricated furniture suppliers to avoid any possible conflicts during the installation of new data/electrical connections to the pre-fabricated furniture, patient room medical supply/service piping and new control room electronics. Project includes LED lighting and day light controls to save energy. Project cost without equipment is approximately $500,000.

Wicks Hall Entrance (2016)

Aubertine and Currier provided Architectural/Engineering Design Services associated with the renovation work at Wicks Hall to replace the doors and renovate the entrance vestibule on the lower level of the Northwest stair tower connecting to parking lot #5. All doors were designed with automatic accessible operators.

MacArthur Hall Roos Court (2016)

Aubertine and Currier provided Architectural/Engineering Design Services associated with the design of the renovation work at Roos Court dining area. The scope of work included the demolition of existing cabinets and countertops for the construction of new cabinets and countertops in a larger existing space. Aubertine and Currier also provided coordination with the Mechanical & Electrical Engineers along with the foodservice appliance supplier for the electrical and piping connections to the new appliances.

Dana Hall EMS Office & Facilities Assessment (2015)

Aubertine and Currier provided a written report for the current status of the property. A master list of improvements was prepared which cited deficiencies identified during the site visit and the recommended improvements. Estimated implementation costs were presented for each proposed measure.

Wicks Hall Proposed Health Center (2014)

Aubertine and Currier prepared a conceptual plan for the relocation of the existing campus health center to the lower level of Wicks Hall. The center shall have (4) active exam rooms as well as a nurse station, staff offices and a multi-purpose training room.

Grasse River Suites Facility Assessment (2014)

Aubertine and Currier provided an investigation and inspection to evaluate the property condition. A&C staff incorporated the information from original blue prints, operation manuals and interviewed employees to gather information and concerns. A written report for the current status of the property Fwere presented for each proposed measure.

Wicks Hall Retaining Wall (2014)

Aubertine and Currier provided Architectural/Engineering Design Services associated with the renovation work to a retaining wall outside of Wicks Hall. The retaining wall was in disrepair. The project consisted of the removal of existing stone veneer, and cleaning, numbering and storing it for re-installation. Installation of “Cav-Air-Ator” drainage and ventilation mat and “SANDWELL” Cell Vents were done prior to reinstalling the stone veneer.

Miller Student Center (2014)

Aubertine and Currier provided conceptual design and contract documents for the alteration of an existing intramural gym within the Miller Campus Center to be used as a Student Services office space.

Parking Lot #5 Reconstruction (2014)

Aubertine and Currier provided the civil engineering design and written technical specifications for the approximately 50,000 sf reconstruction of SUNY Canton’s Parking Lot #5.

Chaney Dining Center– Bakery (2014)

Aubertine and Currier provided engineering design services to evaluate all applicable codes, rules and regulations for the existing cooking equipment and exhaust hood within the secondary (unused) kitchen at the Chaney Dining Center. A&C then created construction documents for the adaptive reuse of the space as a bakery.

Southworth Library Retaining Wall (2013)

A&C was contracted to perform a structural analysis of an existing retaining wall. SUNY Canton was provided with design drawings and written technical specifications for the removal of existing stone veneer, and cleaning, numbering and storing it for re-installation. Installation of “Cav-Air-Ator” drainage and ventilation mat and “SANDWELL” Cell Vents were done prior to reinstalling the stone veneer. 

Engineering Laboratory (2013)

Aubertine and Currier provided the architectural design for the alteration of an existing classroom into a new Civil Engineering Lab, and provided contract drawings and written technical specifications.

Student Activity Building - Data Closets (2013)

Aubertine and Currier provided the Architectural/Engineering design services to evaluate all applicable codes, rules and regulations for (2) existing data closets within the Student Activity Building.

Athletic Recreation Center and Faculty Office Building

Aubertine and Currier inspected a 100,000 sf convocation/athletic recreation center and a 2 story faculty office building for code compliance items and provided recommendations to update and renovate the facility to meet current NYS Building Codes.

Cook Hall Chemistry Lab Fire Inspection

Aubertine and Currier provided an emergency structural inspection after a fire at the chemistry lab. The inspection was necessary to verify the building was structurally sound for the environmental testing agency to safely enter the building and perform sampling needed for the fire investigation.
