AUBERTINE & CURRIER OFFICE - WATERTOWN, NEW YORK

Aubertine and Currier Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors, PLLC (A&C) recently renovated a 6,968 s.f. warehouse in the city of Watertown. Throughout the redesign process, A&C was able to incorporate many of the “green” principals that they recommend to their clients into the building, as well as the use of an accelerated renovation schedule to accommodate the needs of their growing staff numbers.

Some of the “green” practices used in the design of the new building include a super insulated building envelope.  A lantern was inserted into the roof of the building to allow for the use of natural light.  Compact florescent lighting (CFL) is used throughout the entire building.  Exposed structure allowed for the elimination of finishing materials and adds to the unique attractiveness of the building. Recycled carpet and low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints were used in the interior of the building.  Finally, automated lighting controls and automatic low flow plumbing fixtures were used to reduce the use of electricity and water.

By using green building techniques and sustainable options, A&C was able to minimize their carbon footprint and costs at the same time.  Through creating a “green” culture in their office, the owners of A&C can physically show clients how these options work and explain how these options can work in the client’s offices or homes.
