Client: Jefferson County SPCA | Location: Watertown, NY | Services Provided: Architectural

The Jefferson County SPCA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to protect and care for all domestic animals in Jefferson county. The SPCA provides care and adoption services for over 2,000 animals each year in Jefferson County, including animals from Fort Drum.

The SPCA is an important community asset in Jefferson County, is a “No-Kill” shelter, and is the only shelter that accepts “owned” animals in Jefferson County. The SPCA is also the primary animal abuse investigation organization in Jefferson County.

To meet the current and future animal welfare needs in Jefferson County, the SPCA has begun a $2,000,000 Capital Campaign to construct a new 8,000 sq. ft. animal shelter that will enable the organization to serve and care for 1,000 more animals each year, provide space for separate dog and cat wings, incorporate meet and greet rooms in the shelter for animals and people to interact prior to adoption, and provide classroom space for educational programs.

Aubertine and Currier provided Conceptual Architectural Services for the new facility which included the preparing of a preliminary estimate of construction costs, the development of photorealistic AutoCAD rendering, and the review of materials and color selections.
