Aubertine and Currier performed a HCR Physical Needs Assessment and a NYSERDA Energy Use Assessment for the Union Free School Apartment complex. The complex consists of a (1) 4-story apartment building (the original school) and an attached 2-story apartment building (originally the school gymnasium) for elderly housing.
The 4-story portion of the building was built in 1912 and 1913, and designed by Syracuse, NY Architect Eugene Sacket. The school is architecturally significant as an example of a “small village school” built in the early 20th century. This building is listed on the Nation Register of Historic Places
The Physical Needs Assessment covered the site, grounds, building exterior, building systems, interior common areas, roofing and dwelling unit. We also provided energy efficient upgrades to the building envelope and heating system.
