A massive improvement project is underway for the existing City of Rome Water Pollution Control Facility utilizing millions in government grants along with city funds. Improvements include the construction of a new pre-engineered metal building called the High Strength Organic Waste (HSOW) Receiving Building, which houses a mechanical screen and a basement pump room; a new HSOW Equalization Tank involving the design of a reinforced concrete foundation to support a 40’ diameter, 320,000-gallon stainless steel equalization tank; a new Gravity Thickener Pump Station Expansion Vault involving a wall demolition in the existing vault to provide a doorway to the new adjoining pump station; modifications to both Primary and Secondary Digesters, and a new Waste Gas Burner.
Aubertine and Currier (A&C) provided Architectural Design, and Structural Engineering services for this project in collaboration with Barton & Loguidice. A&C’s responsibilities included the preparation of Architectural and Structural drawings for new and existing buildings, code review of all buildings, site visits, preparation of written technical specifications for structural and architectural components, coordination with Process, Electrical and Mechanical trades, Bidding, and Construction Administration through close out.
